Location
Transport
Cutteslowe is situated a short distance north of Summertown. It takes 60-75 minutes to walk there from the Night Shelter. Alternatively there are plenty of buses which drive along this route, notably the 2, 2a, 2b, 7, 7a and 7b. The bus usually takes 7-10 minutes and can be taken from the stop directly at the top of Luther Street, or outside Sainsbury's on Magdalen Street. You need to ask for the Harbord Road stop to get off at Cutteslowe.

Shopping/living
There aren't a huge amount of shops in Cutteslowe, but there are a few on Templar Road, behind Park Close: a small supermarket / newsagent is open from 8am-11pm. This doesn't sell much in the way of fresh food, but plenty of tinned foods, milk, cheese, cereals and other dry foods, as well as alcohol, soft drinks, confectionery, newspapers and magazines. Next to this is a hairdresser and along from that the Kendall Crescent Health Clinic (see above).
Summertown is a five-minute bus ride from Cutteslowe (heading south), while Kidlington is a 5-10 minutes bus ride heading in the other direction. These places provide a wider range of shops, as well as sports centres, swimming pools and libraries.
Open spaces
Cutteslowe Park lies behind Templar Road and is one of the nicest parks in Oxford. There are several football pitches, a 1-mile route for those who enjoy running, a large duck pond, tennis courts, model railway (at weekends), and a collection of birds, hamsters, rabbits and chickens!
There are often events held in the park, especially in the summer, such as Concert in the Park, hot air balloon rides, car and motorbike shows, gardening shows, fairs, good food shows and numerous football tournaments - including a students' world cup.
