Emergency accommodation
For people aged 22+ who are rough sleeping in Oxfordshire.
Entry to O’Hanlon House is via No Second Night Out (NSNO), a new UK-wide programme that aims to reduce the numbers of rough sleepers in the city.
There are seven NSNO beds on the ground floor at O’Hanlon House. These are managed by the NSNO team who are based in the corner office close to the rooms.
Once someone has been verified as a rough sleeper by the Oxford City Outreach team, they are referred to the NSNO hub and given a bed when one is available. They will work with the NSNO team to be assessed within seven days and then given a ‘single service offer’ – a chance to move to next-stage accommodation. This might be to another hostel, or to stay within O’Hanlon House. If they have no local connection, or have no access to public funds, they may not be allowed to stay.
The NSNO hub is staffed by a partnership of Oxford Homeless Pathways (OxHoP) and Broadway workers.

Without the help of staff at O’Hanlon House I would not have achieved giving up drugs and had the chance to go back to college.

Our services
I could eat and cook what I want, when I want, and come and go as I pleased. I was encouraged to attend courses and become involved with in-house projects.

Most Emergency Accommodation rooms are single with en-suite facilities. Rooms for couples are also available. Pets can be accommodated, subject to behaviour. A hot evening meal and breakfast are included in the weekly fee of £24.50. This covers items not paid for by grant funding or housing benefit (e.g. food, cleaning, heating and lighting).
Support staff work with individuals to develop their own support plan, helping them to identify and tackle the issues that have led to them to being homeless.
Our Day Services and Step Up programmes help motivate and inspire clients to learn new skills, get fit and change their lives.
Our separate, referral-only Resettlement Floor provides a range of dedicated support to help clients move on to appropriate accommodation.
Reconnection Policy
New arrivals meet the Oxford Reconnection Worker to discuss what services are available to them in Oxford.
Booking
Anyone seeking a bed must go through the NSNO hub and must first be verified by the Oxford City Outreach Team. This system prioritises rough sleepers according to vulnerability. Repeat bookings must be made on a weekly basis, every Monday between 2pm and 3.30pm.
